Алекс Маркуш створює та ремонтує гітари для найвідоміших гітаристів. У тому числі – для Ріхарда. Як він сам каже, Ріхарда фон Раммштайн. Алекс живе й працює в Берліні, має великий стаж роботи, який включає співпрацю з передовими лейблами та роботу з рідкісними й вінтажними гітарами. Одним словом, Професіонал. Починав він ще в ГДР, тож реально близька душа Ріхарду.
Алекс описує свою співпрацю зі Слешем і Хетфілдом: короткий контакт із самим музикантом і довга робота з гітарним техніком музиканта. І тут з’являється Ріхард. Ріхард з його одержимістю вникати в усе.

The new guitar project with ESP and Rammstein
Sonja:
Is there a big player you are currently working with?
Alex:
Yes, at the moment with Richard from Rammstein. There are a few things in development that will soon be on the market. We are very happy about that. It is being done together with the company ESP. There will be a signature model from him and also an LTD model, the slightly cheaper version. A beautiful model. It is also a great collaboration, with the German distributor, with Stefan Kühn from Sound Service. He also helped develop everything and communicates everything, and I am involved in the technical area, with the details.
And Richard is someone who is very behind in the technical area. He is obsessed with details. It is not an easy collaboration because the demands are very high and the technology is very complicated. So, it is not complicated because of Richard, but because of the demands. The difficulty is that you have a lot of complicated technology, but it is used in the rough everyday life of a stage. If you look at a Rammstein stage show or the open-air festivals, the stuff has to work. And that is also an important term for me in my career: road suitability.
I attach great importance to this. We see again and again that there are developments that you read about in specialist magazines or online, and that's great. But ultimately the question is always, what will really last on tour? And that is, for example, knowledge that I often don't share with the artist, but with the guitar technicians.
And what makes working with Richard very difficult are the time slots. Seeing where you can meet, talk, try something out. Then it goes partly through Japan, partly through the USA. It's not easy to coordinate everything. That's something Stefan has to do. And you also have to clarify which things are actually possible in production.
That's a challenge. But of course it's also a lot of fun. Sometimes you rack your brains, looking for a solution, and the guitarist says: "There has to be a way." And you think: Yes, but how? That's not my job. I have to make sure that things work. And of course you're happy when, for example, Richard comes back and says: "Yeah, that was great!" Or the guitar tech Lutz then says: "Yeah, that wasn't so cool, we'll have to do it again today."
And it's exhausting because you're always under time pressure, but at the same time it's also a lot of fun because you're challenged. You have to be creative, you have to think of something to make it work.

That would actually have been a question: Who are the people you actually work with on the planning and implementation?
Alex:
It varies. With Richard, for example, Richard really likes to take things into his own hands and be involved. And his guitar tech Lutz, who has probably been there for decades, knows everything inside and out. He is there, of course. Then you sit together in the studio, look at things, try things out. And here, of course, it was also the collaboration with Stefan, who then takes over the communication from Germany to Japan and the USA.

Співпраця з Ріхардом ніколи ні для кого не була легкою. Мало того, що Ріхард взагалі одержимий, так тут ще йдеться про його обожнювану гітару, на якій йому грати вдома, в студії, в турі. Тут кожна найдрібніша деталь має для Ріхарда колосальне значення. Гордість за Ріхарда викликає обізнаність Ріхарда в технічному плані. Я маю на увазі те, що технології постійно змінюються та розвиваються, особливо останнім часом було зроблено певні прориви. Але Ріхард не залишився на тому рівні, в якому йому було комфортно років 10 тому, Ріхард постійно вивчає нові технології, розвивається разом з ними і росте професійно. Це особливо вражаюча риса для німця, тобто носія риси крайнього консерватизму.
It is not complicated because of Richard, but because of the demands – як мило, що Алекс поспішив заявити, що не Ріхард створює складнощі. Але я вірю цій ремарці. Нинішній Ріхард реально милий, easygoing, він не ускладнює роботу в силу свого темпераменту. Нинішній Ріхард – людина, з якою дуже приємно працювати. Хоча й виснажливо. Важко, але приємно.
Road suitability – о дааа, це дуже важливо для турів Раммштайн, гітара-слабак там не витримає.
Time slots – хммм, а чого Алекс каже, що важко організувати час для зустрічі з Ріхардом, Ріхард крім літнього туру не здавався таким уже зайнятим. Значить, у Ріхарда набагато більше справ, ніж здається, раз навіть обожнюваній гітарі він не може приділити достатньо часу. Розробка гітари йде через США – так ось чого Ріхард регулярно літає туди. Ну а заодно по дорозі скупляє собі обладнання.
"There has to be a way." – ой дуже легко уявити собі, як Ріхард вб’є щось собі в голову і потім вимагає, щоб це було втілено. Втілено «не знаю як, але не так», бо це не відповідає уявному саунду в голові Ріхарда.

Although the question remains whether he would also like to contribute ideas in speaker sounds, synthesizers, as when he showed the video of his new electronic composition.
Definitely, Richard "Innovation" Kruspe" goes beyond updating his sound equipment and is totally diligent with these issues and it is appreciated, he continues to evolve musically.
